Chord Substitutions Explained – JAZZ PIANO BEGINNER

In this music theory tutorial made by MangoldProject, you are going to learn what chord substitutions are, focusing on how certain chords can be “substituted” for other chords because they fulfill the same functional (diatonic) role.

For example,. the subdominant (major 4th) can be replaced with the supertonic (minor 2nd), turning a 4 5 1 progression into a 2 5 1 progression.

MY OPINION

A really awesome tutorial for understanding chord substitutions !
