How to Choose Chord Tensions ? PIANO TUTORIAL

In this music theory tutorial made by MangoldProject, you are going to learn how to choose chord tensions (#9, b9, #11, etc). Ever wondered when to sharpen or flatten tensions? Should you play a C7#9 or a C7b9? Well, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but here’s a quick tip that involves analyzing the ninth intervals within your chord.

Simply put, if you want to maximize consonance and minimize dissonance, try to use major 9ths instead of minor 9th! Watch this video to learn exactly what this means.

MY OPINION

Nice simple chord voicing to learn in order to choose chord tensions.
